On every clear night we conduct a night sky tour, but what you
can actually see depends on the moon phase for the night as well
as general sky conditions (cloud cover, haze, humidity, stability of
atmosphere, etc.) The following description will give you some
idea what you can expect to see during the night sky tour
(generally from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm).
Period from 3 or 4 days after full moon to a few days after new moon:
The sky is fairly dark. We observe star clusters, nebulae (gas clouds), galaxies,
planets (if suitably located), interesting stars and bright comets (if visible).
Period from a few days after new moon to 3 or 4 days before full moon:
The moon is up and the sky is not very dark, but dark enough for observing star
clusters, bright nebulae, interesting stars, planets (if suitably located) and the moon.
This is the best time to view the moon's surface.
Period from 3 or 4 days before full moon to 3 or 4 days after full moon:
Very bright moonlight. We observe bright star clusters, interesting stars, planets (if
suitably located) and the moon. The best time to view the moon's large surface
features.
