| Drawings of Astronomical Objects The sketches presented here were made mostly in the 1990s and early 2000, using a 47cm (18.5-inch) f/4 Dobsonian telescope. The main observing site was Laidley, about 50 km west of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The naked-eye limiting magnitude at the zenith was about 6th, although the eastern sky was affected by light pollution from Brisbane and Ipswich. As the telescope's primary mirror was of "below-average" quality, smaller aperture telescopes of average or better quality may show fainter stars and more subtle features than shown in these sketches. (Comet sketches will be presented at a later date.) |
