NIGHT SKY TOUR 2
Observatories open to the public daily
If you cannot travel to our Guesthouse, try one of these observatories
near you.
TO amateur astronomers
If you are an amateur astronomer, please read this. You will find out
about the sky conditions at the Guesthouse.
                                      Buying star names
Some organisations "sell" stars or name stars after persons for a fee. Occasionally,
some people ask us if they can see through our telescope the stars they have bought.
Generally, we cannot  fulfill such a wish, as it is very difficult to point at a particular star
among hundreds of stars seen in the same telescopic field.
Please read the statement by
the International Astronomical Union, a world-wide
organisation of professional astronomers, regarding
selling and naming stars.
How to start learning about the night sky
If you are thinking of learning about the night sky, we recommend
the following "tools" to start with and you can try them out after the
night sky tour:
   1. Star Disk (to know what constellations are visible at a
       particular time)
   2. Bright Star Atlas 2000.0 (Very handy to explore the night sky
       with binoculars or small telescopes)
In addition to these, purchase a good introductory book on
astronomy which gives you the basic concepts in astronomy.
