イケヤ・セキ彗星を始めとする数多くの彗星・小惑星の発見や観測で世界的に知られ
る高知市の関勉氏のご厚意により、氏発見の小惑星に命名する機会をいただきまし
た。地元スタンソープの町とギラウィーン国立公園、教育・研究用のマウントケント
天文台、一般公開天文台を持つ内陸の町チヤーラビル、オーストラリア有数のアマ
チュア天文家として変光星の研究で功績を残したアーサーページ氏を関氏に提案、国
際天文連合によって正式に命名されました。
また、関氏自身のご提案で小惑星エイジカトウ（ツインスターゲストハウス・オー
ナー）も誕生しました。
